Detail

Pyroxasulfone, with the test codes KIH-485 and KUH-043, was developed by Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and Ihara Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. in 2002. It is a new type of broad-spectrum and highly active pre-plant soil treatment agent. It is a new type of Oxazole herbicide; Pyrzole herbicide and is suitable for the pre-plant control of annual broadleaf weeds and grass weeds of various crops such as wheat, corn, soybeans, cotton, sunflowers, potatoes, and peanuts.

Mode of action:

Pyroxasulfone is classified as a K3 type herbicide by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC). It belongs to a super-long chain fatty acid elongation synthase inhibitor and exerts its effect by inhibiting the super-long-chain fatty acid elongation synthase (VLCFAE).   Pyroxasulfone can inhibit the biosynthesis pathway of super-long-chain fatty acids in plants, converting stearic acid into arachidic acid, arachidic acid into stearic acid, stearic acid into eicosanoic acid, eicosanoic acid into wax acid, wax acid into lignoceric acid, and ultimately inhibiting the synthesis of myristic acid. After application, it is absorbed by the young roots and buds of weeds, inhibiting the early growth of seedlings, and disrupting the meristematic tissue and epicotyl.

Applicable and Target:

(1) Applicable for corn, soybeans, wheat, peanuts, cotton, sunflowers and potatoes, etc.

(2) Pyroxasulfone is a broad-spectrum herbicide that can effectively control a variety of annual grass weeds, including Setaria, Digitaria, Echinochloa, Panicum, Sorghum, and broadleaf weeds such as Amaranthus, Datura, Solanum, Abutilon, and Chenopodium. Its herbicidal spectrum is larger than atrazine and metolachlor. It is superior to metolachlor in controlling almost all weeds such as sorghum,   ragweed, broad-leaved plantain,   millet, wild barley, Fei's foxtail grass, shepherd's purse, pigweed and   bicolor sorghum. Moreover, the stable control effect lasts for up to 85 days after spraying. The dosage is 125 (clayey soil) - 250 g/hm2 (sandy clayey soil), which can control a large number of grass and broad-leaved weeds. The dosage is 8-10 times lower than that of metolachlor. Syringopropazine has good safety for crops even without adding safeners when used for pre-emergence weed control in corn seedlings, and it will not harm the corn plants when used after emergence.
