Difenoconazole is a broad-spectrum systemic triazole fungicide developed by Novartis (Switzerland, now Syngenta) in the late 1980s and first launched in 1989. It is one of the safest and most widely used varieties among triazole fungicides.


Mode of Action:
Difenoconazole is classified as Group 3 by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC) and acts as a sterol demethylation inhibitor (DMI). It inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in the cell membranes of pathogenic fungi, disrupting membrane integrity and function, thereby inhibiting mycelial growth and spore production. It possesses excellent systemic translocation and can be absorbed by plant roots, stems, and leaves for acropetal transport.


Target Diseases and Application Scope:
Applicable Crops: Rice, wheat, fruit trees (such as apples, citrus, grapes), vegetables, cotton, and ornamental plants.
Controlled Diseases: Effective against various diseases caused by Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes, and Deuteromycetes, such as rice sheath blight, false smut, wheat powdery mildew, rust, fruit tree scab, anthracnose, powdery mildew, as well as vegetable early blight and leaf spots.
Characteristics: Broad fungicidal spectrum with both protective and curative activity. Compared to earlier triazole agents, it has a weaker inhibitory effect on crop growth (such as stunting) and higher safety. It has a long residual period and is rainfast. Due to long-term widespread use, some pathogens have developed a certain level of resistance; therefore, rotation or mixing with fungicides of different modes of action is recommended.
